Handpull cask at the Cambridge Brewhouse. Black, impenetrable, with a ring of tan head. I get quite a lot of banana in the aroma. It’s slightly artificial and very sweet-smelling, and there’s an odd but not objectionable note of pepper. The taste brings forth more banana notes - sweet but pleasant and quite refreshing - along with a bit of liquorice and sweet/savoury fudge. Long sweet finish, with blackberry, spice and yet more banana in the aftertaste. Thin body for a stout and quite oily. I quite took to this, surprisingly.

Chelmsford Winter Beer Festival at KEGS. Cask. Opaque black - brown beer, small pale tan head. Big nose on this one - foam banana sweets! Palate is smooth and semi dry, modest fine carbonation. Taste follows the nose - big sweet foam banana candy! Clear as day. Lesser ripe banana. A touch of dark malt under there somewhere. Light finish. Foam banana linger. Good fun but a bit overcooked with the banana!
