A traditional English ruby-coloured premium bitter. A combination of pale, crystal, and chocolate malts give an upfront sweetness, tempered by the late addition of spicy hops.

Handpull cask at the Kingston Arms, Cambridge. Reddish Amber, clear with only a tiny bit of head. Turpentine and cedar aroma. Malt and more malt. Taste is malt-heavy but not the bomb I was expecting from the aroma. There’s a gentle bittering hoppiness that balances the beer and keeps it light. It isn’t the best beer I’ve had, but I like it more as I drink (always a good sign). Toffee notes galore in the aftertaste.

Cask @ White Swan, Hebden Bridge. Ruby-brown with a thin head. Nothing too exciting, but easy to drink with light dark malts.
