Backlog May 2014. Dark amber body under a nice, lacing off-white head. Surprisingly mild aroma. Roasted malt and hint of chocolate. Taste in same direction, average sweet and malty with hint of chocolate, moderate bitterness and a light fruity touch. Not much impact from the Sauternes imo.

Aroma of malt, caramel, dry roast, oak, some vanilla, ripe fruits, Sauternes. Flavour is medium sweet, a bit tart. Finish is dry and sweetish. A bit on the thin side.The barrel aging is quite obvious. It’s just too bad it didn’t result in a better beer.

Sampled from 0.375 l bottle. Very dark brown to black with a light brown head. Sweetish-malty, slightly roasty aroma of dark chocolate, coffee and some licorice. Sweetish-malty, slightly roasty taste of dark chocolate, coffee, some licorice, a touch of vanilla and hints of hazelnut, followed by a short, slightly roasty-bitter and quite dry finish. Thin to medium body, slightly effervescent mouthfeel, soft carbonation. Okay!

375ml bottle. Trübes dunkel orange braunes Bier mit einer großen beigen Schaumkrone. Geruch trocken röstmalzig, erdig, süß. Geschmack trocken röstmalzig, Kaffee, erdig, leicht wässrig.

375ml bottle. Jet black colour with average, thick, frothy, half-way lasting, moderately lacing, beige to tan head. Roasty dark malty aroma with vinous overtones, hints of white grapes, a touch of dark chocolate. Taste is dry, roasty dark malty, hints of dark chocolate, a metallic touch. Unconvincing.

Bottle from Bierkompass, bought in 2013. Black with a tan head. On the sweet side with ash, light roasted malt and some hints of wood. Low carbonation and with a light body.

Bottle 375ml. [ As Mikkeller Dry Stout (Sauternes Edition) ].Clear dark red brown color with a large, frothy - creamy, good lacing, mostly to fully lasting, light beige head. Aroma is moderate to heavy malty, roasted, caramel, malty, ash notes. Flavour is moderate sweet and bitter with a long duration, roasted, malty, wood notes, wine notes. Body is medium, texture is oily to watery, carbonation is soft. [20141229]
