12 oz. bottle from Aldi. Pours a pitch brown-black color with a small, tight khaki head and good retention. Decent lacing. Roasted malt aroma. The taste follows the nose: Roasted malt flavor with a hint of dark cocoa in the finish. Medium body. A little thin for a stout. Smooth and clean. Medium-light carbonation. Not bitter. Good flavor profile, but not quite as creamy or meaty as a Guinness. An enjoyable substitute at a good price.

Ya know, for an Aldi exclusive stout, it ain’t too bad. Had a side-by-side with Guinness Draught and this beats it handily. Roast and bitter chocolate on top of cascara and dark berries. Not great, but if you’re buying Aldi beer, great isn’t on the table.

12 ounce bottle thanks to hershiser2! 10/15/22. Very dark red brown, thin tan head, average retention. Aroma of roast, earth, smoke. Taste is roast, smoke, almost a hammy note. Caramel. Strong bitterness. Thin. Decent.

Pours pitch black with heavy carbonation and a thin tan head that quickly fizzes away. Aroma of chocolate malt. Taste has more chocolate, thin nutty element, roasted malt. Palate has burnt coffee, some more chocolate notes. Quite good.

Aldi bottle. Pours nearly black with a small beige head. Roasted malt, toasted nuts, chocolate aroma. Flavor is roasted malt, nuts, cocoa, light coffee. A bit thin, but it is 4.2%. Not bad at all, especially for the price.
