A smooth yet dry Belgian strong ale that hides it's 10% ABV very well, it's packed full of caramel, toffee and liquorice flavours and is quite possibly our favourite brew for a winters evening.

330 ml bottle, probably from Vinmonopolet, Nettbutikken. ABV is 10%. Opaque black colour, minimal tan head. Pleasant aroma of roast malts, molasses, oak, prunes and old fortified wine, Moderate carbonation. Medium sweet flavour with the same elements as in the aroma, a hint of liquorice.

330ml bottle bought at Vinmonopolet Vika a while ago. Shared with Finn. The oily pour reveals a coal black body with a tiny, filmy layer at the surface. Dotted spots on the glassware. Inviting aroma of roasted dark malts, mild vapour of alcohol, and prunes. Rich taste of cocoa, dark and dried fruits back by a nice little touch of yeasty fruitiness. Warming alcohol. Dangerously easy to drink. Pleasant (Tromsø 12.05.2015).

Bottle thanks to Craig. It pours deep brown with a tiny beige head. The nose is sweet, cola cubes, candy, brown sugar, brown bread, booze, dried fruits and earth. The taste is bitter-sweet, earthy, candy, toasty, drying, coffee, raisin, some astringency and wood with a very dry finish. Medium+ body and fine carbonation. A bit one-dimensional. Sweet, yet very drying.
