We affectionately refer to the first beer in our Revolution series of modern, American craft beer, as our unusual little bird. It’s a little on the flighty side at 5.4% ABV, and it’s a little on the wacky side because we brew it with finely milled chestnuts (genus castanea …for you nut freaks), Willamette hops, and we ferment it with a Bavarian Weissbier yeast strain. All of these nuances contribute to its ‘nutty’ personality.

500ml bottle. Minimally cloudy amber colour with average, frothy, half-way lasting, minimally lacing, off-white head. Yeasty and hoppy aroma has a citrusy lime and lemon touch, nuttily background. Taste is moderately sweet malty, slightly nuttily and bready, cautious fruity hoppy overtones with a touch of orange and mandarine, some banana close to the finish; slightly dry and yeasty finish, moderately lively carbonation.

(bottle, 5.4% abv) Hazy, amber colour with a medium-sized and slightly tanned foamy head. Yeasty, present wheaty aroma with notes of cara-malt, a whiff of nuts and a fruity touch of banana. Moderately sweet and delicately sour flavour, light to medium bodied with a modest carbonation. Wheaty and mildly cara-malty taste with nutty spots and fruity notes of banana; mildly sweet and delicately acidic wheaty and fruity finish with notes of banana and caramel in the aftertaste. Solid. 29.IX.14

bottle from Bierpost. Hazy golden-brown, mid-sized white head. Malty with a shy roasty touch, hints of dried fruit and some aromatic hops with a herbal-resiny touch in the finish.

Bottle. Pours an orangish copper with a very thin head and aromas of apple juice, toffee, and a little bit of cocoa. Flavor is initially fairly fruity depending on how it hits the palate it either stays that way or blossoms into a bit of a cocoa finish that is interesting. It’s a nice beer, but not really anything too unique.

Sampled from the tap at the brewpub. Pours a near clear gold with an amber hue and a white head that dissipates to the edges. Aroma has notes of light roast, earthy wheat with some light fruits backing. Flavor has a good amount of light wheat with some earthiness and a hint of grass.
