Baeren Southern Germany Style Helles Unfiltered 5% Nice opaque gold with a dense long lasting foamy top. The aroma is bready, hay, mint, pine, herbal hops. Medium to full bodied with a pretty crisp finish and bitter bite. Wonderfully smooth and quaffable.

Bottle, mail order from the brewery. Bottled 9 days ago. Malty nose, bread, biscuit, some yeast esters compared to the filtered version, but not huge. Glowing gold with orange tints, hazy, taller and longer lasting head. Richer flavor, very malty and cereally. Herbal hops with a spicy, bitter finish, possibly more bitter. Fuller body from the yeast. Chewy, malty. Decent stuff. Not as hoppy as a Franconian keller, and a simpler malt bill, so something like the Munich-area Kellerbiers. Doesn't feel like a helles with the yeasty body.
