A new Barn Owl has swooped onto our shelves! No. 28 is a lightly dry hopped blend of pale ales aged in American Oak foeders and conditioned on Niagara apricots and peaches. Juicy, slightly-tropical fruit flavours are contrasted with a medium-sharp acidity reminiscent of Rocket Candy or Sour Patch Kids, creating a complex yet thirst-quenching experience.

Bottle from the brewery. Hazy yellow pour, with a large white head. Pungent, lactic nose, full of stone fruit, and sour apricots, and citrus zest. Funky, bright, crisp, and lively. Medium bitterness, and a medium to high tartness. Full of funky, fruity goodness.

(500ml bottle c/o Herbalist, thanks!) Pours lightly hazed medium gold with a thin fizzing white head and no lace. Aroma is tart and rather lactic/citric, lots of apricot and peach, sour candy, grapefruit, stone fruit skins, light oak, a little soft musky funk. Flavour is quite clean and quite lactic/citric, apricot, underripe peach, fuzzy peach and sour candies, grapefruit pulp, green apple, very light musky funk, oak is in the background, softly tannic, acidity all the way into the aftertaste, quenching. Light to medium-bodied, a bit slick, fairly softly carbonated. Not very complex on the funk side of things but it's a nice sour candy fruit bomb, though the acidity started to wear a little in time.
