(Keg at Kuikka, 20141210) The beer poured deep dark brown. Its head was medium sized and white. Aroma had chocolate, roasted nuts, cocoa, caramel and vanilla. Palate was full bodied with medium carbonation. Flavours were vanilla, chocolate, roasted malts, coffee and bitterness. Aftertaste had vanilla, cocoa, sweetness and bitterness. I was expecting a horrible mess based on the description but instead I got a balanced combination of strong flavours. Hides alcohol almost completely. Well done brew.

Aroma has chocolate, some sweet liquor and raisins. Flavour has sweet raisins, chocolate, alcohol, woody tones and . Feels a bit artifical. A slow sipper in Lost Abbey way. The alcohol is a bit too sharp and dominating here.

On tap @ Kick. Unclear murky brown body with a medium sized pale beige head. Nice aroma of caramel malt, dry fruit, nuts and oak. Flavor is sweet, smooth, soft malt, dry fruit, mild wood and balanced bitterness, also hint of warming alcohol but doesent feel boozy at all, dangerously easy to drink considering 10% alcohol. Fine body and long pleasant aftertaste. A really nice version of Imperial Brown Ale that gives the flavor some extra complexity without overdoing the oak. Lovley.

15.09.2014, tap @ Pingvinen:
Nice creamy mediumlasting head. Aroma is mild and slightly sweet, caramel malts, chocolate milk, dark sugar, grass, hay, oak, vanilla, alcohol. Taste is slightly dry boozy, burnt caramel, oak, whiskey, minerals, weeds, grass, hay, sour coffee, hints of butterscotch. Medium to longlasting bitterness, dry mineraly mouthfeel. Fair enough, but not really my cup of tea...

Where to start….just a cousy evening at Sara in Oslo with some friends. A new creation from Nøgne Ø. Well Brown ale have never been my favorite. But I like most of the creations from Nøgne Ø. And some are really horrible. But I have to try. That is how the disease work. So here we go. Pour it up and get it down. Clear deep amber (very close to black) color with a lovely tan head that makes one hell of a lacing. Aroma…..brown ale my a….. My nose went bananas. Not much banana in here, but roasted malt, oak, vanilla, fruity and some cherry. Full thick body and slightly sweet. Really creamy and smooth texture. Flavor…..aahhhhh I could sip on this the whole evening. Sherry, oak, vanilla, fruity, some spices and nutty. Well hidden alcohol. Ohhhhh what a lovely complex and well balanced brew. Brown ale are still not my favorite, but this one sure is! Must try to find a bottle or three.

200ml from tap at Café Sara, some of the content was shared with OleR. Beige, patchy surface to a deep ,dark brown coloured body. Aroma of oak vanilla joined by brown malts, mild vapour of alcohol. Vanilla taste together with dried fruits and roasted malts towards the ending. Warming alcohol to it. Full bodied. Fine sipper qualities (Oslo 20.06.2014).
