Liberal amounts of chocolate malt and roasted barley are added to this beer to give it a deep, dark, black colour as well as lots of coffee and chocolate aromas. The roasted malts will give a slight astringency to the beer, which will be balanced by a slight sweetness added by the Crystal malt.
Magnum hops are used to bitter the beer as they produce a clean, neutral bitterness.
The bitterness given by the hops will accentuate the roasty characteristics of the beer. However, Dragon Stout is in the low end of the bitterness range for stouts so that the consumer may drink more than one in a sitting.

August 2017: Shared can at local tasting, thanks to omhper. Black colour. Aroma and flavour of coffee and roast malts, fairly dry. Not bad at all. Might well sample again.

Can and sample courtesy of Thomas - cheers! Pours almost black with a frothy/creamy off-white to beige head. Aroma of moderate roasted coffee, chocolate, malt, vanilla and a hint of liquorice. Moderate sweetness, light to moderate bitterness. Medium body, slightly oily and watery texture, average to soft carbonation. Milky chocolate and light roasted bitterness to finish. Surprisingly good.

Can. Thanks Per! Dark brown colour, small brownish head. Caramel, some coffee in the nose. Medium-bodied. Caramel, toastyness, coffee. Suprisingly slightly industrial but ok.

Many thanks to Nisse666 for this rare sample. Country #176. Great dark malty nose. The beer starts dry with lots of chocolate and roast. Nice and smooth. Caramel, roasted espresso, nice bittered. Fresh aftertaste of hazelnuts and dry toffee. Really a good stout!

Tasting at SF’s
Dark brown color. The aroma is very bready, the flavor quite bready too, the mouthfeel is weak, some cocoa.
Not bad.
