22 oz bottle, Bought in March from HyVee in Newton ($4.99). My Earth Day beer if you will, not just because I’m a homeboy, but as in more ingredients being sourced from nearby. Pours with a big head, and and orange, slightly pink tinge to it. Head stays pretty big and even crown over the top of the glass. Smell is a usual Cascade/Centennial note, mostly bits of citrus. Hop taste is still pretty fresh, just slightly green with a few grass clippings along with an aggressive bitterness. Malt profile is supportive of the hop. Feels like Madhouse is overcoming its freshman bumps and starting to dial in its recipes better. If they come back to tweak their flagship beers, better. Anyway, clearly shows the properties of its hop varietals, Sharply bitter, yet pretty quaffable--and hopheads can choke down some pretty undrinkable stuff to get the hop burn. Hmm… caught a very slight whiff of smoke or peat that I’m sure isn’t intended. But an enjoyable nightcap after a day in which the Blackhawks survived to Game 6 and, oh yes, A White Sox Pitcher Notched ANOTHER Perfect Game.
