Typischer Schinkenrauch-Geruch in der Nase; setzt sich im Trunk fort. Insgesamt aber sehr zurückgenommen; schönes Bier zu deftigem Essen. Leicht röstig.

From old tasting notes. Deep copper color. Big rocky tan head. Roasted malt nose has an underlying smokiness. Delicious roasted malt flavor is reminiscent of smoked meat, only more subtle. Nice dry finish long dry aftertaste. Very good. Smoked flavor persists throughout. Full bodied and tasty.

I don''t like this style anyhow, but this one was way too smoky.............

A bit abrasive and overpowering rauchbier. ................................

Badly skunked (green bottle) with just a hint of smokiness in the aroma. Similar for the flavor. Not nearly as much smokiness as the Schlenkerla rauchbier. Because of the skunking and otherwise lack of interesting traits, I dumped it after 3-4 sips.
