750 ml corked and caged bottle purchased at Martin City Pizza and Tap in Kansas City, Missouri. Bot on 08/21/15 printed on label. The pour is light haze orange copper brown with a two inch frothy light tan head. Head falls with crackling. The aroma is boozy Bourbon, cherry fruit, and sweet caramel malt. The taste is a medicinal cherry, the boozy Bourbon, wood, and a bright sour acidity I was not expecting. The Abbey character of clove, sweet malt and yeast is present though certainly buried beneath the bourbon and sour cherry. The palate is medium bodied with active carbonation and the woody boozy acidic sour finish. Didn’t really come together for me - didn’t have the subtlety of barrel of other MCBC beers I have enjoyed.
