The perfect blend of coffee pot aroma, almond and chocolate indulgence. This deliciously prepared beer is a true homage to all that is wonderful about Italy’s café culture.

Bottle from SarkyNorthener cheers Martin; dark brown pour with a quickly disappearing light bubbly tan head, strong marzipan aroma, taste has chocolate, almond, some nutty action, pleasant mouthfeel, Bakewell tart, I enjoyed this.

330ml bottle from Morrisons, Edinburgh. Pours clear dark brown, no head. big chocolate and almond aromas, really delivers on the aromas. Taste is the let-down though. Like all Bateman bottled beers I’ve had, really thin body and mouthfeel. Gets cloyingly sweet towards the end.

330ml bottle from Morrisons - A flat looking brown body, no head, not too inviting. Nose is outstanding, loads of chocolate, loads of coffee, and a marzipan almond punch at the back. Taste is a watered down version of the aroma, not helped at all by the watery mouthfeel. I could sniff this all day, but having said that I could sniff cyanide all day - just doesn’t mean it’s a nice drink.

33cl bottle from Morrisons, Aldershot. Cola coloured with no head and some lively carbonation; coffee aroma to start but then lots of almond essence comes through; sweet and syrupy in the mouth with a smooth grainy body and almond the predominant taste; and some dry chocolate to finish. OK, but not my thing.

330ml bottle: BBD 31 Mar 2015, poured into a ’Chimay’ chalice on 18 Sep 2014 and shared with no one! Looked great at first, a lovely ruby red body with a full, deep tanned head: sadly the head turned into a wisp and collar before i even picked the glass up to inspect and sniff the beer. The aroma and taste are really as the label and blurp say: huge amount of coffee and almond flavours fill your nose and mouth. Vanilla and chocolate esters also appear in both the aroma and taste. A liquid Bakewell Tart with coffee notes and alcohol, what more could a sweet toothed beer hunter want? Good body feel and flavour depth: a lovely night cap after a heavy days walking.

Bottle shared at Chrisso’s May 2014 tasting 25/05/2014. Thanks to Leighton for this one. Deep red / caramel brown coloured pour with a hal of off white head. Aroma is big amaretto biscuit, caramel, coffee, quite artificial but big nonetheless. Flavour is big fake, sweet amaretto, marsipan, caramel, slight stale. Palate is quite sweet and moderate carbonation. Not my thing.
