Bottle. A black one, or at least really dark brown, topped by a dense, finger-thick dark beige head. The aroma has quite a lot of Christmas spices, with roasted malts, cocoa powder and some burnt notes. Even though it’s quite spiced, the spicyness feels well integrated both in the aroma and the flavor. There’s a little sweetness in the flavor, well balanced by bitterness, but it’s mostly on the dry side. Spices, hints of charcoal and dark chocolate, some cocoa and quite a lot of roasted malts. There’s a little sourish touch, wonder if the ginger is causing it, doesn’t really matter, because it fits nicely with the rest of the flavors. A bit thin on the palate, but considering the ABV it’s fine. Nice carbonation level. Roasted, spiced and lightly burnt finish with a sourish touch in the very end. This tiny brewery really amazes me. All the beers we found were good, most very good actually, and the lady running the operation have no brewing experience prior to Rein Drikke, and the equipment is far from high tech. 140622
