Bottle from Sainsbury's Supermarket, Salford. Amber-red with a small head. Good winter warmer with plenty of red ale character, and a good hop-malt balance in this respect.

[50cl bottle from my local Sainsbury’s .] A slightly hazy reddish chestnut pour with a ring of cream coloured head; aroma of burnt sugar; smooth malty taste with hints of Shep yeast, then some caramel; then a slightly drying finish.

500ml bottle from Sainsburys. Deep reddish-amber in colour with a short-lived off-white head. Aroma of caramel, dusty hops and red berries. Flavour had more fruit, some toffee sweetness, ripe malts and a moderately bitter finish. Ok.

500ml bottle. Pours dark reddy brown with a medium head. Aroma is plummy red wine. Taste has some dark fruits, touch of red wine and co2.
