Samuel Adams American Kriek: The intense black cherry character in this beer comes from Balaton cherries, which were discovered in Hungary and are now grown in Michigan. These special cherries are prized for their depth of flavor. The tartness from the cherries is balanced by a rich, malty character with toasted oak notes added from the barrel aging.

Nice brown with minimal head. Aroma is slightly tart berries, sweet, cherries. Medium bodied. Flavor has light tartness, sweet cherry, light wood. Decent beer- really hard to go through a whole bottle.

Bottle shared at the Richmond Industry Gathering. Pours a hazy copper color with a thin creamy off-white head. Decent head retention. Aroma of berries, earth, nutty notes. Mildly tart. GThe taste is earthy, cherries and raisins. Medium bodied. I’d agree with fruit beer as the classification here. Not really a kriek, but not bad.

Split a 750ml bottle of this with a bunch of co-workers. Poured a red-pink hue, with a light pink white color. Aroma was cherries, some light brown sugar notes, vanilla oaked notes are there, but quite subtle. Mouthfeel is thin, flavor is sweetness, cherry red notes.

750 ml bottle from Total Beverage Westminister. Nose is cherries, brown sugar, oaky vanilla hints, and toasted whole wheat bread. Clear rusty red with a big pale pinkish beige head. Flavor is sweetness counterbalanced by mild tartness, woody vanilla, cherries, and white peppery spices. The tartness is not very pronounced otherwise I would rate it higher.

Pretty weak. Lots of cherries and very drinkable, but not nearly sour enough and not that well balanced. A kriek on training wheels perhaps.

Bottle. Pours with a hazy red to orange body with a small white head. Aromas are sweet cherry, light wood, a bit of a malty sweetness. Lightly tart. Flavors are tart, pie cherries, sweet biscuity malt, bready and sweet with lasting cherries. Lively carbonation. Decent fruit beer.

Bottle sample at a tasting. Thanks Oren. Clear red with an off-white head. Aroma of cherries, malt, caramel, some alcohol, wood notes and light brandy hints. Sweet fruity flavor with cherries, caramel, a bit of sweet spiciness, some liqueur notes and a slightly drier finish. Medium-bodied. So-so.

Sampled from the tap at EBF. Poured a clear ruby with an amber her with a near white head that dissipated to the edges. Aroma was a bit underwhelming with a light slightly tart cherry note. Flavor started with cherry that grew into a medium tartness and ended with a hint of acid. Nice light body.
