This Russian Imperial Stout is dedicated to Georgy Zhukov, arguably one of the finest generals of World War II. Huge in body with strong flavors of espresso, chocolate and molasses, this unique iteration of Zhukov’s adds roasted hazelnuts and vanilla to impart even more complexity and depth of flavor to this massive, jet-black stout. In the immortal words of Marshal Zhukov himself, “Есть вещи в России, которые не являются, как они кажутся.”

Bottle - Chocolate and hazelnut. Jet dark brown with a dark brown head. Syrupy dark molasses and chocolate . Vanilla and nut seems a bit artificial, but still decent.

100 ml. from bomber @ Gollem: USA Beerweek(end) #2. Black, very thick dark creamy head. Nose is umami, licorice, chocolate sauce, mocha grain, thick gravy & low roast. Taste is chocolate umami, thick gravy chocolate sauce srup, almost red grape note, faintest vanilla, almost abscent, booze, thick molasses, almost soy sauce,... Thick molasses chocolate syrup body. Very thick beer. Like it the same as the regular one since I sadly didn’t get hazelnut & vanilla is almost impossible to get.

Pours black ,ok brown head. Smell is bit weak, some mild hazelnut, light amounts of roastyness. Taste is sharp at the beginning, than comes very nice hazelnut, with vanilla softness. The taste is amazing, but dissapears instantly. Leaving an aftertaste of cocoa, and bitterness. Very nice, but could be a bit more long-lasting . Nice mouthfeel and perfect carbo.

Thanks Huhzubendah for sharing the bottle! Poured into a taster showing pitch black with a latte foamy center. The nose shows an algae/fish food forwardness. The palate is full bodied and not carbonated. Flavors of the same and a toasted/burnt bitterness on the finish. Might be off, but I’m still rating it the same.

22oz bottle thanks to Steve. Inky black body, small ring of beige head. Aroma starts off with some big roast grains, coffee, vanilla, kind of smoky. Taste picks up the beat, the hazelnuts make an appearance, silky smooth. Velvety. All comes together quite nicely into a nice big boozy sipper.
