A salt caramel popcorn imperial ale. Bourbon and rum barrel aged, this 12.8% ale has complex and twisting flavours. Bitter caramel, wood, smoke, spice, treacle and vanilla are all present and intertwine against a smooth and lightly chewy mouthfeel. The salt caramel popcorn lends subtle hints of a smoky brininess.

Bottle at our elite tasting. From my Secret Santa Beersiveknown. Thanks! Very rich and very intense. Also wonderfully balanced. Lots of coconut both in aroma and flavour. The high bitterness and light citrusy hops flavour provide ample background for lots of other stuff going on. Caramel, toffee, biscuity. Saltiness appears late in the finish. Alcohol warming and pleasant, never sharp. Really great beer, thanks Steve.

375 ml bottle 1625 of 8250, shared by Werckmeister, thanks!
Dark brown body, almost no head.
Aroma of smooth bourbon, coconut, vanilla, chocolate, some dark fruits, alcohol.
Taste follows this pretty much, dominant bourbon and smooth, dark, sweet malts, with some more liquorice.
Medium, oily mouthfeel, with a moderate carbonation.
Finishes boozy, astringent, with bourbon, dark chocolate, some liquorice.

Very nice. Not that complex, straight bourbon notes and dark malts. Pretty boozy, but nice sipper. Not my favourite from the AB series, but another enjoyable one.

Bottle #6920. Dark color without foam. Aroma: barrel, red port wine, sweetish malty, toffee and fruit. Where’s the popcorn? Taste: sweet toffee, great porto, a little salty caramel, warming like this fruit liqueur. Great ale.
