A tasty, brown best bitter with black and crystal malts and Northdown, Fuggles and Goldings hops. Some nice fruit flavours come through and there’s a hint of honeycomb on the front along with berry notes. The finish isn’t long, but it has good bitterness and the beer’s exceptionally moreish.

Bottle from Hop Kettle online shop. Appearance - deep brown to black with an attractive beige head. Nose - toffee, molasses and edge of blackcurrant. Taste - blackcurrant, molasses and caramel. Light smoke. Palate - medium bodied with a creamy texture. Light roast on the finish. Overall - very nice. Not a bitter style, more on the mild or dry stout side.

Cask-conditioned at the Seven Stars, Bristol 4/7/2016. Medium brown in colour, with a slight, off-white, head. A malty bitter, with some hedgerow fruits, a touch of leafy hops and moderately bitter finish. Fine.

The Star Inn, Crowlas. Cask. Clear brown beer with a tidy off white head. Smooth palate, semi dry. Smooth light malt, just a whisper of caramel. Mild orange marmalade hops. Red berry fruits provide a little sweetness. Finishes smooth and semi dry. Not bad, pretty drinkable.

Rich copper colour. Orchard fruits on the nose with light, toasty caramel character. Earthy and toasty finish.
