Bottle. A quite dark golden, clear bear without head. Nice oxidized nose with alcohol and sweetness. Port as well? Sweet, slightly vinegary flavor, proving that oxidation can be good, but it’s too sourish/vinegary in the finish. Medium body. A complex, lovely oxidized beer. Suspect it’s even better fresh, though. Bottle. Red/brown body with a small beige head. Aroma is sweet malt, alcohol and a bit roasted coffee. Flavor is very sweet malt, liquorices, alcohol, coffee, some kind of sour bitterness. Nice, but I think I’m not completely convinced.

Bottled. A hazy amber beer with small particles of sediment floating around under a thin orange head. The aroma is sweet malty with strong notes of fruit as well as light notes of wood and oxidation - due to 2½ years of storing. The flavor is very sweet and very fruity combined with medium notes of prunes, and again a slight oxidized note and notes of alcohol, which is felt on the tongue. Thanks BelJohansen for sharing this.

27.5 cL bottle (2005), thanks to faroeviking. Pours amber to deep orange with no head. Aroma is dark malty, slight dried fruity. Flavour is slight sour portish, still dry and also dark malty flavoured. Slight woody finish. Nice but somewhat too old in flavour.

Rating 500!!!!!!!! Bottled 2005: Deep clear Orange with no head. No exceptions whether you poor aggresively or whatever! Vinous sweet vinegar aroma. Very sweet taste with notes of port and again fruits like plum, prunes & raisins. Easy flat body but has a filling feel. Warmth from alcohol but very anonymous really. Moderate bitter finish!

2015-09-15, corked bottle; 10 years old, 7-4-6-3-13=33
Dark amber color, dull, flat. Nice malty aroma, vinous, evidently oxidised, but still nice. The mouthfeel is a bit oily, no carbonation left; it has notes of malt vinegar, and it has a moderate oxidisation; low bitterness, but with some astringency in the end.
It’s on a slippery slope, but still interesting.

Cloudy red-dark amber color, more head than usual Gale’s ales. Nice aroma of malt, brandy, toffee, spices. Full mouthfeel, malty, vinous, with caramel and a wood touch and without the characteristic Gale’s sourness, but with its complexity. The final is warming, quite bitter and a bit astringent. Difficult but very interesting.
