This India Pale Ale (IPA) is an aggressive wee beast that is dedicated to our friend Joseph Wood of Liberty Brewing and to all those hopheads who love drinking IPA day in, day out. Just as the term digital is all about zeroes and ones, the concept of IPA is all about malts and hops. Enjoy the rich golden malt backbone of Digital while you can... then feel it closing in as the fruity Motueka-grown hops dominate your palate and don’t ever fade away. IPA as it should be.

Bottle from Mitra Bunnik, batch 057 BB 02/02/17 brewed and bottled at BrewDog, large sample. Clear golden color, medium frothy head. Aroma of grassy and flowery hop, bit pine, some stone fruit, tropical fruit. Medium flowery bitterness. Quite clean, focused on hops, not much malt character, clean yeast. Good one showcasing the hops on a backbone of punk IPA.

Keg at the Queens Head, 21/04/16. Golden orange with a decent off White covering. Nose is citric tinged straw, light smoke, dank hop strokes, pine whisper. Taste comprises juicy citric peel, tangerine, grapefruit, light pine, toasted malt, orange pith. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, juicy hop rinse in the close with a rising dank edge. Decent IPA.

Bottle at home in London - picked up at Offie & Toffee. This is a version brewed by BrewDog. Pours almost entirely clear yellow-gold with a frothy, white head. Nice aroma, with definite notes of pissy nelson and motueka, some tangerine, bready pale malts, lemon meringue. Medium sweet flavour with light dankness, moderate bready sugars, juicy tangerine, peach, hints of cat pee, melon, cantaloupe, soft piney bitterness. Medium bodied with average carbonation. Lightly resinous on the finish, with more pale bready sugar foundation, ripening tangerine, orange, very slight urine, biscuits, lemon peel, melon. Great stuff overall. Really precise and well executed.

330ml bottle @ Chez Sophie, Shrewsbury. Pours clear gold, medium white head. Aroma is musty peach, papaya, Sorachi. Taste continues with a smooth, fruity, floral character with additional caramel and resin. Very good IPA.

Draft @ Mother Kelly’s, Bethnal Green E2. Pours a slightly hazy golden pale orange color with a small white head. Has a fruity citrus hoppy aroma. Fruity malty citrus hoppy grapefruit flavor. Has a fruity malty citrus hoppy grapefruit finish.

Keg @ Victorian Craft Beer Café, Halifax. Golden with a glow and a thin head. Has a heavy tropical fruit taste, which is a little less stated in its nose, but this takes nothing away from if being crisp and tasty.

Draught @ Mother Kellys, 251 Paradise Row, Bethnal Green, Greater London, England E2 9LE. [ As Yeastie Boys Digital IPA ].ABV: 5.7%. Clear medium orange color with a small to average, frothy, fair lacing, mostly diminishing, off-white to white head. Aroma is moderate malty, pale malt, moderate to heavy hoppy, citrus, mango, orange - citrus. Flavor is moderate sweet and bitter with a average to long duration, caramel, pale malt, sweet fruit, mango, fruity, medium dry. Body is medium, texture is oily to watery, carbonation is soft.
