Cask at the Southern. Very dark brown, thin tan head. Aromas of fruit and roast malt, light chocolate. Taste has more fruit, chocolate still very light, slightly thin, with a dry finish. Good though.

Keg at CBR 2014. It pours near black with a small tan head. The nose is cocoa, roasted malt, earth, dark fruit, berry and dark chocolate. The taste is tart cherry, roasted malt, earth, cherry cola, sherbet, chocolate and caramel with a dry finish. Medium body and moderate carbonation. Pretty solid.

On tap at Holyrood 9a. Appearance - opaque black with a nice fawn head. Nose - gentle chocolate to start then just a hint of red fruits. Taste - strawberries and raspberries with chocolate backdrop. A lot of pudding qualities going on. Palate - medium to full bodied with a creamy texture and a fairly elegant finish considering the style. Overall - I prefer think to the Fyne ales beer. More interesting.

Cask at Holyrood 9A. Black body with a thin tan head. Excellent lacing. Aroma of zingy hops and chocolate. Flavour is very tart and tangy - unusual for a Stout. Hints of red fruits. Lingering hop bitterness. Thin body with an oily mouthfeel. Nice carbonation prickle. As it is, it’s a very nice beer, but with a higher ABV it could be brilliant. I thought it was a bit like a ’Black IPA Light’.
