375ml bottle. Hazy, yellowish pale golden colour with small, creamy, half-way lasting, moderately lacing, white head. Wheaty, citrusy, herbal and yeasty aroma with hints of brett, citric acid, a spicy touch of Dijon mustard. Taste is tart citrusy, hints of lemon, citric acid. Is that all? Hoped for more.

Bottle shared at Bruce’s in London - thanks to C-Dog. Pours hazy gold with a frothy white cap. The nose has tangy wheat, hints of dry lemon. Light sweet flavor with notes of corn and cereal, tangy wheat, white bread, sugar. Light bodied with average carbonation. Mild sweetness to finish, more crunchy cereal, corn, hay, wheat. Might be a bit young.

Pours a pale orangey yellow. Cloudy. Medium-small white head. Lots of fine foam. Some lacing. The aroma has a lot of orange peel. Some funk and honey-ish malt sweetness. There’s a very nice, mildly sweet vinous note in the background. Some wood and spice. I’m not sure if I’m letting the taste color my impression, but the funk seems a bit off. There’s just a little bit of something messy in there, a bile-ish, cheesy twist. Unfortunately, that flavor comes out more in the taste. I’m no expert, but I suspect that brett could clean it up. There’s just a twinge of off-flavor. Otherwise, the beer tastes quite good. Good citrus, drying wood, light malt in the background, mild spice. Very easy to put down. Mouthfeel is light. Carbonation is probably a touch low for the style, but I’m entirely alright with that. Citrus and wood in the finish. Shame about the off note, but it’s a good beer and other batches could well lack that odd funk.

Enjoyed fridge temp in a stemmed glass. Pours a very hazy dark orange, almost no head. Nose is faint, a slight bit of tart lemons and acidic hardness. Starts nice very similar to previous batches. Middle turns south as citrus and tart bite fade to a milky creamy taste with funk and brett. Finish is buttery corn and cloves with orange peels. Man, I ordered a lot of these from crooked Stave expecting it to be similar to previous st. bretta beers. Pretty disappointing.

375mL bottle (2013/batch 4). Aroma is very nice and well balanced between the tropical fruit and pineapple of the Brett and the citrus nots from the fruit. Medium light phenolic coriander note. Pours a fairly cloudy yellow gold with a moderately large and thick white head. Medium light retention with medium light lacing and no legs. Flavor has a light citrus acidity upfront. Some medium Brett notes of cherry pie, pineapple and barnyard. Phenolic note has a very faint plastic character, but is mostly coriander. Medium orange flavor with moderate to moderately strong bitterness. Nice dry finish with some lingering orange, phenolics and acidity. Medium light wheat notes. Mouthfeel is medium light bodied with medium high carbonation. Low astringency and medium low alcohol warmth. Overall a pretty nice Brett version of a Wit. This series has inspired me to try making Brett Wits of my own. I like that the citrus fruit is noticeable and identifiable without dominating. The Brett character adds nice complexity as well with some fruitiness and complimentary phenolics.

Bottle @ home, picked up at Crooked Stave. Pours a milky, yeasty yellow orange appearance with a white head. Whole lotta spicy, herbal brett in the nose along with oranges, mango, tangerine, juicy fruity aroma. Somewhat musky, a bit oaky. Very faint plastic note that I sometimes get from their brett strain. Lightly tart, big oaky/vanilla, lightly sweet, orange juicy, bretty, a touch floral flavor that finishes somewhat tart and citrusy. I could be wrong but I’m getting more in this one than the previous St. Bretta releases. This seems to be a bit more juicy than the other releases, but I enjoy it nonetheless.
