Devil’s Backbone is full bodied and full flavoured like a mellow autumnal day with a hint of chocolate thrown in.

500ml tall thin bottle in Bushmills, Northern Ireland. Brewery of the trip for me. Pours an unclear deep amber, frothy off-white crown. Nicely defined red ale malt to the fore, nutty undercurrent, distant cakey allusions.. good balance, nice Irish red ale.

Amber with a tan head. Toasted malts, hoppy citrus, fruity, light chocolate, and just a hint of roasted malt in the back. Medium bodied. Finish has a bright fruit note over the rich roasted malt and chocolate sweetness. Very solid.
