A refreshing nettle beer with a subtle spicy character that lingers on the palate for a wonderfully tongue tingling taste.

Cask at the Hit & Miss, Penn Street, Bucks. Apparently this contains stinging nettles. As a boy Scout I remember making and enjoying stinging nettle tea, but I can’t remember what it actually tasted like. However, as a result, on seeing this beer I was looking forward to re-acquainting myself with the humble nettle. So, onto the beer. It pours a deep and slightly hazy gold with a thin white head. There’s a brief bitterness up front before sweet lime and elderflower kick in- if this is the taste of nettle then I still like it! Unfortunately this decent start is overwhelmed by a mass of caramel and diacetyl. So... a potentially good beer made average by pour brewing and-judging by the haze and slight lack of condition- possibly poor cellaring too. Shame.
