Bottle from Saucy Pears. Appearance - deep amber with orange chinks around the bottom of the glass. Nose - sweet malt. Light cake note. Taste - toffee and sweet malt. A bit of hazelnut on the back. Palate - light bodied with a creamy texture and a reasonably balanced finish. Overall - reminds me of 70 shilling style.

Bottle courtesy of dad, consumed at Isobels, Eardisley, Herefordshire Tuesday 31st December 2013 ( New Years Eve) Pours brown no head. Good brown beer, little sweet but it is fruity. Only 3.1% but tastes a little stronger. A little bitterness showing, not that different from many others of this ilk but its fine. A6 A4 T6 P3 Ov12 3.1

Bottle from Hop Pocket Wine near Hereford. Pours brown with a negligible head. Thereโs chocolate, lots of roasty malt and a little sourness. Maybe a little thin at first but the malt bulks it out by the end. The big problem here though is the aggressive carbonation which kills the flavour. Would no doubt be decent on cask but the fizz ruins it in the bottle.
