Loam Vidal Blanc Orange Wine Process 2023
For the first time, we have incorporated the orange wine production process into our Loam series of Saisons. When we received our Vidal Blanc grapes and must from Noboleis, we racked the white wine from the skins and used it in Loam Vidal Blanc. The remaining Vidal Blanc skins, lees, and must were then covered with Side Project Saison to pull the tannins, textures, mouthfeel and some colors from the skins - just like the process to make many Rosé wines, but instead with white grapes for this. The result is a beautiful beer with notes and complexities we have never created before, yet it remains inviting, exciting and a beer we want to share with you.

750mL bottle, 2023, drunk 7/9/25.
Clear, bright brass-golden. Big white head instantly fizzles to small bubbles on edge.
Giant minerality and round orange wine notes of light skin tannin, mild Brett and earth. Hint of malt and grape sugar, but mostly dry with no acetic. Light oak, deep and not buttery or overly tannic. Quite aromatic and bright.
Lactic and mildy bretty in the flavor with a round, soft malt and a healthy oak tannin that keeps it quite dry. Not too much grape, though there's certainly a healthy acidity. Round and zesty with a big maltiness. Despite its 2023 vintage, this is drinking VERY fresh/young (which, relatively speaking, it is) and is going to be much better in a few years.

That orange wine process really adds nice grape funk and earthiness. Slight tartness and acidity, soft overall.
