Dark and mysterious, the voodoo spirit Baron Saturday captured our imagination; this porter would be his preferred pint. Brewed with a blend of five different malts it has hints of coffee, chocolate and liquorice.

500ml bottle, bought at the brewery and poured into an Abbot Ale glass tankard at home on 21st Aug 2018. Bottle conditioned, so poured carefully, deep ruby body, huge foaming tanned head. Aroma held both coffee and chocolate esters within the malty nose. The taste also leaning towards coffee and chocolate flavours, mild liquorice notes once you start searching for them (after reading the rear label on the bottle). It's a nice easy drinking Porter with a robust rather than smooth body feel, liked it.

Cask-conditioned at the Gryphon, Bristol 19/9/2013. Dark brown with a thin, off-white head. A fruity porter with hints of milk chocolate and coffee. Ok, but a bit thin bodied in comparison to the weaker Weird Beard Black Perle drunk at the same time.

Half pint, cask by hand pump at Brewery Tap Leeds. Diminishing, tan-coloured head. Near-clear, rosewood coloured body. Moderate, semi-sweet smell of caramel and bread. Roasted dark malty taste, notes of coffee offset by leafy hops towards a malt-fruity ending. Medium bodied. Pretty nice. 30.06.2013.
