9% On tap at the Ibaraki Bakuon fest 2013. A copper brown color, a nice citrus hop aroma, very fruity with grape notes, possibly Nelson Sauvignon? More fruity than bitter which is what I enjoy. A really nice IPA with herbal, fruity & floral notes-good stuff.

Bottle - A fruity flowery aroma, with a muddy amber hue. Malty tones with a strong yeasty after-taste. A bitterness is the only thing that would make me call this an IPA.

Draught @ Beer Belly, Osaka. Rated on 12.09.2011
Aroma of raspberries and vanilla. Almost no hops at all, hints of fruits. Some raspberries and much overaged strawberries in the flavour. Also some hops. One weird, sweetish berry-dipa, feels a bit like Amager Rated XxX, but a bit lighter.

Draught at Thrash Zone, Yokohama Cloudy amber, small head. Lots of toffee, some chocolate. Hops are remakable subtle for a DIPA. Grapefruit is absent, instead there is apple and caramel. In present shape a thoroughly unimpressive beer.

Deep copper/amber with a small white head. Heavy hop aroma, malty, vinegar, and caramel. Flavor is rather bitter. Herbal hops, light citrus, and caramel malts. Full bodied. I don’t like the vinegar in the aroma, but it tastes fine and is a decent IIPA.

Tap at Thrash Zone. Dry hopped at the brewery with centennial hops. Strong hop presence in the aroma, molasses, some herbal, and burnt sugars. Strong hops in the flavor as well, sweet malty molasses, bitter hops, herbal notes finish it up. Fairly thick body. Though this is a good brew I found the combination of the flavors a little annoying at the end of the pint. Still, I’d order it again.

Handpump at Beer Belly, Osaka. This beer is always a bit different. I have had it from Keg, Handpump, and in the bottle, and the hop to malt balance is always a little different. The cask version, which I am writing about here, tends to have more complex malt with less hopping than the keg version. At any rate, it is a powerful, flavorful beer that should be tasted. Dark brown, strong (usually more like 8-9%) but hiding it well, good hops and well balanced.(P.S. This beer has gone way down in quality since I wrote this, but I won’t change it, just to remember what it once was)

12 oz bottle, courtesy of hogfodder, shared with after4ever and myself on 3/20/08. Pour is hazy deep orange an off white head. Aroma deep sweetness, Werther’s candy. Taste of sweet floral maltiness and more of the caramel sweetness. Some nice bitterness in the finish. Good one, thanks Rick!

Thick foamy white head, over hazy amber brown body (great looking head). Surprisingly weak nose with notes of German hops. Rich med-full mouth. Somewhat malty, but no noticable bitterness. Finish is mute. Alcohol is well hidden, but this beer just goes nowhere. Kind of like some some of the hot chicks in Shibuya. Great to look at, but not alot of substance.
