Gravity cask at Brew Wharf. Pours rich brown with a bubbly off-white head. The nose has some sturdy roast, dry cocoa, burnt leaves. Light-medium sweet flavor with well toasted bread, further earth, mellow chocolate. Light bodied with fine carbonation. Finishes with lightly tangy dark malts, further roast, cocoa, very minimal vanilla impressions, mild bitterness. Not bad.

Cask at the Brewpub. Huge thanks to Ang for taking the time to rum me through these ones on a working night. Opaque dark brown- black beer, tiny pale tan head. Palate is light and smooth. Minerally fine carbonation. Tangy dark malt with a little bourbon biscuit. Light touch of vanilla that is slightly peppery. Tangy semi dry finish. Another interesting variation.

Gravity dispense at Brew Wharf, massive thanks to Ang for the pour, 27/03/13. Very dark mahogony brown/light black with a thin tan head. Nose carries roast malt, lactose, molasses, touch of coffee. Taste comprises roast malt, light dusting of cocoa powder, dark fruits, molasses, a little sweeter than the base beer but I wasn’t picking up the vanilla. Medium bodied, moderate to soft carbonation, dryish finish. A decent drinkable stout but I struggled to pick up on the vanilla flavour.
