I liked the appearance of Red but for the strength of it it didn’t seem to do a lot. I’d have it again to see if it was just where I’d had it rather than the beer itself as there was nothing unpleasant about it. It just didn’t seem very notable.

Cask at Crown Inn, Manfield, N. Yorkshire. Clear copper/brown. Slight caramelly horseradish aroma. Medium bodied with rounded mouthfeel. Low hop rate instead there is bold toffee and white pepper. No bitterness.

Clear, creamy off-white head. Spotty lacework. Chestnut coloured body. Dark, half way sweet malts to the nose. Caramel malts mixed with plums and berries. Nice bitter ending. Cask, 4.2% ABV, half pint at Bankers Draft (JDW), Sheffield 1 Oct 10.

Cask (@ Dog & Gun, Keswick): Red amber coloured, smaller lacy off-white head; malty nose with a roasty undertone; light to moderate bitter-sweet flavour, light bodied; toasted malt, dark malt and hops in the warming and lingering finish. Good.....

On gravity at Bristol beer festival, 19/03/10. Deep red in colour with a slight, off-white head. Fruity aroma with a roast edge. Flavour of slightly sweet, red berries, caramel and a decent, bitter finish. Good.

(Cask at Ship & Mitre, Liverpool, 20 July 2009) Reddish brown colour with frothy, beige head. Fruity, malty nose with notes of red berries. Fruity, malty taste with wild berries, cranberries and a slightly spicy, bittersweet finish. Medium body, fairly dry.
