An Extra Special Bitter from yesteryear. A complex blend of 5 different malts with East Kent Goldings and Progress hops both in the copper and dry hopped. A delicate spicy aroma, slightly floral yet not so much as to overpower the delicious aromatic malty notes. Gently bitter mouth filling malt with the classic Goldings finish. A wonderfully rounded complex beer.

(Cask at Akkurat, Stockholm, 10 May 2025) Golden colour with foamy, off-white head. Malty, hoppy nose with apricots, toffee and herbal hops. Malty, fruity taste with notes of apricots, mixed fruit, bread, citrus, orange peel and a balanced citric/herbal bitterness in the finish. Medium body, with a touch of sweetness. Well balanced bitter. Quite nice.

[Cask at the Back of Beyond (JDW), Reading- although it’s not been seen for over ten years!] A bright pale amber pour with a tight white head; rich and oily in the mouth with an immediate Kentish hop bitterness and a syrupy body; then a fresh finish with traces of mint and other green herbs. Very moreish.

Bree Louise, Euston 5 Nov 12. Mørk brun. Lavt skum som fester seg til glasset. Svak karamellaroma. Smaken er litt bålaktig. Svak. Ubestemmelig fruktsmak & ettersmak. Litt tørr i avslutningen.

Gravity, half-pint at Bree Louise. Deep, dark amber. Dotted spots to the glass. Smell of fruity caramel. Choco-caramel malts added by juicy fruits in the flavour character. Bitter malty ending. Satisfying (London. 05.11.2012).
