This special barrel-aged Berliner Weisse was found at the brewpub in early September. Pale straw colour. Just a thin head. Fresh aroma has a limey fruit note and hints at yoghurty tartness. Tart, fresh-tasting, light wheaty character, with lime and celery notes. Clean and full of character. The barrel influence is subtle, lending woody, vinous notes to the background and finish, and leaving the beer very complex. Excellent spin on berliner weisse that both respects tradition and brings new world flair to a style on life support.
