That time of year when the light fades away. Brewed for the darkness, Fade to Black speaks in volumes. Welcome to Volume 4, the Beer pours pitch black with an off white head. Citrus (bergamot) and roast dominates the nose. Slight sweet malt gets pushed back by initial citrusy hops followed by powerful Italian Amaro, gentian and hop bitterness. Finishing with a pleasant duality of dry roasted malts and hop bitterness.

Draft @ Meadhall, Cambridge, MA. Pitch black with a thin ring of white head. Real inviting aroma of roast, citrus and chocolate malts. The flavor doesn’t surprise you, much the same as the nose yet… really nothing stands out and seems muddled. The roast, pine and citrus has no real flow. This needs some fine-tuning to be a real good brew. Overall, just another black IPA that gets lost in a sea of other black ales.

Bottle sample at a tasting at Dancing Camel. Thanks zvikar. Dark brown to black with a beige head. Aroma of weird fruitiness and a bit of roastiness. Roast flavor, a bit sweet, with a bitter finish with some hops. Medium-bodied. Decent, but doesn’t feel like a black IPA - not enough hops.

deep brown colour, some quickly disappearing brownish head; aroma of fresh american hops with grapefruit and roasted malt; taste of roasted malt, hops with citrus notes - such like a mix of an IPA and a porter

Znakomite ciemne IPA z Colorado. Piana spora ale sredniotrwala. Kolor istnie czarny, gesty i jak Guinness bez przeswitu. Zapach chmielowo-kawowy. Smak to gozka czekolada, gozka czarna kawa, troche orzecha i oczywiscie przerozne chmiele amerykanskie od aromatycznych po zwlaszcza goryczkowe. Polecam bo to swietne Black IPA

355 ml. bottle poured in to a tulip. Pitch black with a medium sized frothy head. Aroma with roasted malts, citrus, chocolate. A hint of coffee and pines. Taste is bitter and roasted. Medium body, creamy texture. Finishes long lasting bitter with coffee, chocolate and citrus hops. Good Black IPA.

Bottle from Malt & Vine. Pours very dark brown with a 3 finger creamy/foamy tan head. Aroma of mild citrus and darkly roasted malt. Near full bodied. Flavor is almost minty chocolate - must be the "powerful Italian" stuff. It is more dry than not, and it is bitter. It is a pleasant departure from the norm.
