Great Escape

Bottle at the RBESG, grand tasting (pt 1) at the Moncada Brewery. Amber pour with a white head. Orchard fruit aroma. Spicy-fruit flavours.

RBESG pt 18. Moncada. Grand tasting. Lightly hazy deep gold beer, small pale cream colour head. Palate is airy and light. Modest fine carbonation. Smooth dry malts. Mild citric peel on the backend along with a whisper hop spice. Light dry finish.

Bottle thanks to the Moncada folks during RBESG 2014 Grand Tasting. It pours clear amber with a small white head. The nose is orange, tangerine, candied peel and tropical fruit juice. The taste is bitter-sweet, caramel, orange peel, tangerine, peppery grapefruit, varnish and decent bitterness with a drying finish. Medium body and fine carbonation. Decent enough.

Bottle grand tasting RBESG14. Some hop some toffee. Its fine. Soft. Ok grapefruit hop.

330ml bottle. Clear, orangey dark golden to amber colour with small, frothy, half-way lasting, minimally lacing, off-white head. Unspectacular, flat hoppy aroma, inexplicit, even hard to give a rough direction - definitely more herbal-strawy than fruity, but else? Taste is flat bitter hoppy, almost Pilsener-like, minimally floral, malty basis has an almond touch; bitter and chalky finish. Would have liked to like it, because I like the label design, but... this is definitely not an escape from boring standard stuff. It’s rather like coming home into familiar, dull, run-of-the-mill conditions. "Oh, wie schön ist Panama."
