12 ounce bottle into snifter, bottled on 12/5/2013. Pours fairly pitch black color with a 1 finger dense tan head with good retention, that reduces to a thin cap that lingers. Light spotty soapy lacing clings on the glass. Aromas of dark roasted coffee, dark chocolate, cocoa, roasted malt, toast, light smoke, and roasted earthiness. Nice and pleasant aromas with good balance and solid complexity of coffee and dark/roasted malt notes; with decent strength. Taste of roasted coffee, chocolate, cocoa, roasted malt, toast, dark bread, and roasted earthiness. Light roasted bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of roasted coffee, chocolate, cocoa, roasted malt, toast, dark bread, and roasted earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Nice balance and solid complexity of dark/roasted malt and coffee flavors; with a nice roasted bitterness/sweetness balance and zero cloying flavors after the finish. Medium carbonation and body; with a smooth, moderately creamy, and slightly chalky mouthfeel that is nice. Alcohol is well hidden with only a slight warming present after the finish. Overall this is a nice coffee stout. Good balance and solid complexity of dark/roasted malt and coffee flavors; and very smooth to sip on for the ABV. A nicely enjoyable offering.

Sample at Kurtkeller 015: Coffee-tastic 02 on 07/05/2014. Pours jet black with a medium tan head that diminishes steadily. Partial rings of lacing. Coffee, chocolate and malt in the nose. Medium to full body with flavors of creamy coffee, roasted malt and semi-sweet chocolate. The finish is roasty with a mocha aftertaste. Decent overall.
