Czech Style Dark Lager - Inspired by my trips to the Czech city of Prague and the historic U Fleku brewpub, Fire Glow is a Czech inspired dark lager. Rich and malty it has a very deep, brown almost black colour with a pillowy tan head. Robust flavours of toasted bread, with hints of roasted malt and caramel can be found throughout with a spicy saaz hop finish. Lagered for 8 weeks, Fire Glow is malty, smooth and has a relatively low ABV, which makes it a very drinkable lager.

Can from the brewery. Dark clear reddish copper with a one finger off white head that lingers. Nose is roasted malts, bread, light caramel and some plum. Light sweet malts with a light+ bitterness and a hint of spice in the finish. Mouth is medium with soft carbonation.

Can from the LCBO. Dark ruby, mahogany pour, with a medium beige head. Aroma is noble, and grassy, with a bready nutty malt bill. Clean and crisp mouth feel, solid carb. Medium bitter, nutty, light caramels, hints of hop. Nice stuff.

Paleish amber brown sort of colour. Scummy kind of head. Light bready aroma. Medium body. Dryish, somewhat bready character. Toasty. You definitely don't get the double decoction vibe from this, but it's actually a well-balanced beer that comes together nicely on the palate.

This dark lager poured a deep red colour with a creamy, light brown head. Nice lacing. Scents include roasted malts, nuts and a little light toast. Not overly complex. First swig was a little watery. Flavours of really roasted malts, dark toast and slightly nutty finish.
