As passenger on a College minibus driving through Birmingham on the M6 on the way back from Cambridge University on a hot and sunny day in the summer of 1996 listening to Bill Wither's 'Lovely Day' was the most perfect moment I can remember in my life at that point. I think England were playing too in Euro 96, thrashing the Netherlands. This is a perfect sweet porter too, not feeling its strength, toffee good in its nose, taste too.

Bottle from Eltham Wines. Black pour with a beige head. Nose is treacle toffee, caramel, cappuccino, liquorice. Taste is toffee, caramel, aniseed, cola, touch of coffee. Sweet, malty & faintly bitter aftertaste.

Bottle. Beer Central, Sheffield. Clear, deep cola brown. Dense, lasting, leggy, beige head. Looks the beans. Nose has caramel. Chocolate truffle. Dried vine fruit. Vanilla. Taste has a caramel sweetness, with a nicely robust, vine fruit bitterness. Medium body. Nicely slick. Fine carbonation. Lingering chocolate and vine fruit bitterness to finish. Nice. Not too sweet.
And relax. Such a good beer.
