High proof fruited winter warmer spent over 4 months in a blend of brandy/ex-bourbon barrels, blackberry brand barrels, and cherry brandy barrels picking up hints of caramel and warming heat. Then the barrel stock was refermented with black currant, vino rosso grape must, peach juice, and cranberry juice. Adding the refermented beer to the barrel stock blends the best of both worlds with aged/brandy infused high gravity stock with pungent fruity beer.

Pint can at The Mousetrap - hazy amber - soft but full carbonation - the addition of the various fruit juices lightens the body and smooths out the barrel aging while retaining the deep oakiness of the barrel - the brandy aging is mildly sweet - deep and complex, but hiding under the tartness of cranberry - the black currant juice lends a lovey depth and compliments the brandy barrel-aging - dang, it’s good.

Sample #25 at FoBAB. I think once more I'm going to sit down for this because we are nearly to the end of the session. Yes, they emptied the can into my tiny taster glass, which meant it overflowed so we've got a regular lager color but with an extra pinkishness to it there is some fruit to its nose. A nice mix of various fruit flavors, yes cherry, maraschino cherry, and maybe some nuts to it. I am glad I managed to get into some of these fruit beers, because there's only so much barley wine I can manage. That does not mean I'm not going to try to get one more.
