Bourbon Barrel-Aged Amber Ale

Straight up or on the rocks, we have you covered with our unique take on a longstanding tradition. This barrel-aged Belgian-style amber ale has been maturing in whiskey barrels for over nine months, to provide just the perfect amount of complexity. The smooth deep flavor is enhanced with additions of dark cherry and orange flavors, resulting in a multi-dimensional fruity aroma. Full-bodied with just a little hint of sweetness, the very definition of timeless and tasty.

Pretty much a no-brainer pick up at Mr. T's across town. Ommegang brewed besides being an amber ale that has been barrel aged, two big positives. I have the 12 oz bottle opened and I tilt it inside of a globe glass. The body is amber-brown in color and the initial head is an unusual mahogany tan foam that quickly settles to a bare skim. The scent is boozy along with fruit and syrup. And the drink is good, really good imo. Baked bread, whiskey, dried fruit, malt and dark cherries. Very much a Belgian influenced brew, something Ommegang knows how to make. Lots going on with this one.

A deep reddish copper ale with a thin mocha head. In aroma, sweet fruity caramel malt with dark fruits, cherry, light lactic notes, alcohol warmth, bourbon barrel notes, very nice. In mouth, a nice sweet fruity caramel malt with dark fruits, light cherries, lactic acid notes, bourbon barrel notes, very nice. Bottle at CNY brewfest 2025.

Bottle from Livonia Liquor. Pours a clear, dark amber with a finger of off-white head that lingers. Lovely Manhattan-like notes on the nose with cherry, orange, warming alcohol and Belgian yeast phenols. Slightly thin on the palate but similar flavors. Sweet with toasted malt, caramel, bourbon and cherry/orange on the finish.

My in-laws brought to Thanksgiving many thanks! Ruby chestnut pour and some beige head. Nose is black cherry and bourbon barrel. Tastes of black cherry mostly, some orange, and spice, and bourbon barrel vanilla and woodiness. ABV is well hidden.
