A Dark Golden Ale with a smooth taste and produces a sweetness on the palate. The term "Powder Monkey" was the nickname for the Ships Boy Third Class, the bottom of the navy's seaman class. Lord Nelson's victory at Trafalgar would not have happened without the hard work of the many powder monkey's on board HMS Victory. The Powder Monkey's tasks in battle involved distributing the powder cartridges and bags of gunpowder for the ships magazine to the guns to keep them in action.

Cask at Devonshire Arms, Cambridge. copper with a fair bit of head and lacing. Intriguing spicy aroma: doughy and nutty with traces of ginger and cinnamon. Disappointing taste: a woody bitter with a hint of quininey sour. Dry finish. Slightly unpleasant sour aftertaste. I’ve had worse but this isn’t great.
