750ml corked and caged bottle from the brewery. Cloudy reddish brown pour, with a big beige head. Aroma is tart cherries with some light pie crust and floral flowery aromas. The base beer seems to have a decent malt bill and it’s coming though in some bready sweetness that honestly does not lend itself very well to the tart cherries. The barrel is earthy and adds some light wood, and brings out a little booze. The finish is semi sweet and subtly tart with more cherry juice and earthy barrel with hints of vanilla. Not what I was expecting at all. The base beer and barrel throw this for a loop for sure. A good one though....

On tap at Bar Hop Brewco, Toronto. Pours unclear orange brown with a beige head. Aroma: tart cherries, wood, light funk, some spices. Taste: light sweet & light to moderate tart, sour cherries, vinous, a little balsamic. Medium body, pillowy carb, dry vinous finish. Good one

A Barrel Aged Biere de Garde with tart cherries that pours an opaque orange brown with tart oak and sour cherry aroma excited my olfactory receptors. The flavor reminded me of Rodenbach with a nutty oak, tart cherry, light acidity and even some fudge notes. Really good. 3.8
