The Single Hop Series allows us to showcase our creative side within the constraint of using a single hop.
The second in the series showcases the Nelson Sauvin hop so expect elderflower and gooseberries blended with a Saison yeast character. The beer uses a very traditional Saison grain bill of Pilsner, Vienna and Munich malts but a judicious application of the wonderful hop adds a new world twist, resulting in a beer that’s so full of hop flavour without losing its Saison roots

Tap at Craft Clerkenwell. Pale amber colour, small white head. Aroma is tropical fruits unsurprisingly, mango, apricot, quite full on. Some saison like herbal elements too, and a bit belgian. Taste is good, initial fruitiness, then finish is more grainy and herbal. Pretty good. Bit of bubblegum there too maybe. Fruit tastes like that peach nectar stuff. My first beer by them and will be looking for more.

I don't know why it's lost my rating for this one. I'll add another full review if / when I have it again. I do like Weird Beard's hoppy efforts though.

Bottle at home from Beer:shop St Albans.Very lively pour with a huge persistent lemon sorbet coloured head. Clear golden colour with fine carbonation. Aroma is classic french saison yeast yeast esters / phenols with touches of lemon citrus. Secondary mineral and rubber notes. Malt is doughy / bread, delicate lemon surbert, phenols, and slightly metalic and alcohol in the finish. Not very much nelson sauvin character at all. Very effervessant on the tongue. Weird grassy bitter aftertaste. I think there is a bit of clash with the yeast and hops. Not bad.

Draught @ Craft Beer Co - Clerkenwell, 82 Leather Lane, Farringdon, Greater London, England EC1N 7TR.Unclear medium amber orange colour with a average, frothy, good lacing, mostly lasting, off-white head. Aroma is moderate malty, caramel, moderate to heavy hoppy, peach, moderate to heavy yeasty, fruity yeast. Flavor is light heavy sweet and bitter with a long duration, harsh - acrid bitter, fruity, cold coffee ! fruity bitter, sweet fruit, passion fruit. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is soft. [20130807]

500ml bottle. Clear orangey dark golden colour with average to huge, foamy, half-way lasting, minimally lacing, white head. Dry hoppy, fruity aroma has notes of gooseberry, cautious spicy, peppery, yeasty overtones. Taste is initially minimally sweet fruity and caramel malty, then dry, grainy, bready, unpleasantly bitter, a herbal touch, spicy, peppery, yeasty overtones. Inharmonic.

Tap takeover by the brewery at Cask Pub & Kitchen. Half pint served from keg. Firm white head. Golden-amber coloured body. Spotty lacing. Grass and citrus fruity nose. Flavours of lemon, orange, apricot and dusty hops. Semi-dry, bitter ending. Soft in the mouth. Refreshing and relatively easy to drink (London 12.08.2013).

Draft @ Craft Beer Co, Islington N1. Pours a slightly hazy pale amber color with a small off-white head. Has a fruity malty spicy weak yeasty hoppy peachy aroma. Fruity malty spicy yeasty hoppy flavor. Has a fruity malty spicy yeasty hoppy bitter peachy finish.

Tap at The Grove, Huddersfield. Cloudy, golden colour. Thin but lasting head. Aroma is a farmyard on a wet day. All the while drinking this it reminded me of another beer. in the end I realised it’s a lot like Fantome Saison. Which for me is a good thing.

50cl bottle from the Beer Boutique, Putney.Batch: 12 A hazy amber pour with a billowing white head; aroma of yeast and orange peel; packed with tart, zingy citrus fruit that explodes in the mouth at first, then a sour caramel body develops; the finish has lots of warmth from the alcohol and some farmyard highlights. Certainly a beer to make you sit up and take notice, but I can’t say that the Nelson Sauvin comes through.
