2006 vintage - 9.5% ABV, subsequent batches 7.5% ABV.

Bottle from Legacy Liquor, Vancouver
Pours a beautiful clean dark amber color with generous compact head; slowly gushing, probably the first time it hallens with a Le Trou Diable beer. Aroma of bread, maybe some rye bread, caramel, very light spices (stollen). Soft mouthfeel, lean; some malt and caramel flavor; the light spicy profile tends to provide some soapy feeling, very light star anise; relatively low bitterness. Traces of yeast and esters.
Not impressed by this one, the base beer doesn’t have notable qualities and the spices don’t make things better.

Enjoyed at Brothers Beer Bistro. Pours a nice hazy orange-red colour with a beige head that goes down quickly, but a ring stays around. Fruity nose with a good mix of dark and light fruits, spices and yeast. Wet mouthfeel with a little stickiness. Fruity malt taste with Belgian Ale yeast and very mild spices. Notes of oranges come out in the smell and taste as it warms up. Wish the spices were a little stronger, but still a nice Christmas beer that is different from others of this style.

Brun. Litt skum som raskt flater ut. Syrlig fruktaroma. Smaken er sammensatt fruktig. Svisker. Plommer. Aprikos. God - men litt uvariert. Avslutter litt tørt. Uklar siste kvelling.

Ok. A little bit of nice spice, cinnamon. Pours clear orange with ok head and lacing. Some light florals here but not a huge beer all around. Finishes a little sweet. Tap at Festibiere Gatineau.

Middels fylde, middels kullsyre. Kort ettersmak.

600mL bottle, pours a cloudy dark amber with a medium beige head. Aroma brings out Belgian spices, bready malts, and some spicy hops. Flavour is similar, with lots of dry and spicy notes, revealing clove, dry bready notes, and spicy hops. Pretty well-balanced and drinkable, with a dry and spicy finish. Solid stuff.
