440ml can. Pitch black pour with a decent sized brown head, doesn't last too long though. Aroma of oak barrels, whisky, dark chocolate, roasted malts. Taste is much the same, it's very rich, plenty of oaky barrel notes and whisky and red wine, dark chocolate and roast malts, dried fruits, some liquorice, leather, vanilla, caramel, gentle booze warmth in the finish. Full bodied, very smooth. An outstanding use of barrels. Absolutely love this!

Can thanks to my bro. It pours opaque jet black with a deep tan to brown head. The aroma is rich, dark roasted malts, dark chocolate, gateaux , intoxicating malt whisky character, dried fruits, banana split, apple crumble, rich pudding with cinnamon, coconut, toffee and fruit cake. The taste is slick, oily, dark roasted malt, charred, umami, salty liquorice, dark chocolate tart, quite savoury, rocky road, vanilla, dark chocolate bounty bar, intoxicating malt whisky character, dried fruits, fruit cake, whisky fudge, Scottish tablet, toasted sesame seeds, some spice BD very pleasing boozey warmth through a roasty finish. Full body, average carbonation and quite velvety mouth feel. Exquisite. Base beer reminds me of Good King Henry. I also love Lochlea and the barrel aging is well done.

440ml can.  Pours jet black with a large head.  Aroma is sweet, oily tar, heavy liquorice and cough syrup.  Taste has oily liquorice, tar and cough syrup throughout with a little whisky.  Pretty heavy going.
