Pint at Black Gold, Sliema. A pale golden pour with a nice, thick, dense egg-white head. Aroma is very mild, just a hint of herbs and bread. Soft and slick mouth, not too bitter finish. Easy to gulp, easy to forget.

I feel like Victory ought to taste sweeter than this beer, which is a little empty. I guess the Ottomons won afterwards if light boring beer became the norm. Can from a corner store in Gozo.

Wässriger, heller herb-süßlicher Antrunk. Süffig, geringe Würzigkeit, trocken herber Mittelteil. Monoton, fehlerfrei aber absolut langweilig. Kein Nachgeschmack. 8/6/8/5/6/5

Pale golden colour, medium sized white head; aroma and taste of grains, bread, some grassy and metallic notes and a huge amount of corny sweetness; forgettable ’experience’

Can. Pours clear pale golden with small, airy white head. Clear aroma of yeast and skunk, with notes of hops and malt. Bitter, hoppy flavour, with heavy estery notes and touches of malt. Hints of citrus. Paperlike and estery aftertaste, with citric hints. Nothing special as a beer but special tonight, anyway. This formerly Maltese, now German brew is the most appropriate beverage with which to celebrate yet another victory than the one in 1565, while on holiday in Malta: the German triumph in World Cup 2014!
