Bottle 22fl.oz. [ As Boatswain American IPA ].ABV: 6.7%. Clear medium amber orange colour with a average, frothy, good lacing, mostly lasting, off-white head. Aroma is moderate malty, caramel, light hoppy, vegetables. Flavour is moderate sweet and light to moderate bitter with a long duration, sweet malt, vegetable - floral. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is soft. IMO. a bit odd ! [20130223]

Bottle, 22oz. As Boatswain American IPA. It pours a clear, pale amber body with a dense, two-finger off-white head. The aroma is sweetish and caramel-ish, with some flowers, grass and perfume. Rather sweet on the palate, some caramel flavor, as well as grass and some faint orange notes. Medium to full body, soft carbonation. Lasting sweet finish. Not very bad this one, but as an IPA it fails. At least in my book. Too sweet and not enough on the hoppy side. 130810

This review is for Boatswain American IPA. I bought this at Trader Joes because it was $2 for a bomber. I got what I paid for, it's not very good, I've made home brews that tasted better...and I'm a horrible home brewer.

Deep Copper Color, Huge Bubbly Head Leaves Lots Of Lacing. almost nothing, really faint malt aroma. Sweet, malt caramel, just a hint of hops. Pretty much wrong for the style. Pass It.

Bottled as "Boatswain American IPA". Picked up at Trader Joe’s, Charlottesville. Pours amber with a 2" beige head. Smells of generic hops and grapefruit. Tastes of bubblegum, malt, and pine. Ehh.

Bottle at Sander’s place, NYC. Pours clear orange with a fine, foamy head. Alcohol, pine and orange on the nose. Tastes sugary and metallic, some ripe orange. Medium bodied with fine carbonation. Light resinous finish, boozy fruits, metal. Really rough beer.

Bottle from Trader Joe’s, Belingham, WA; 6.7% ABV
as Boatswain American IPA

Hazy amber color with creamy head. The aroma is fruity but also a bit old. Mild caramel flavor, with a feeling of old; semi-sweet, with some caramel flavor, sweet and fruity hopping.
