Bottle shared at RBESG 2014 Grand Tasting. Opaque black color, small light brown head. Aroma is heavy, malts, some alcohol, wood, liquor, bourbon, roast. Taste malts, roast, huge bourbon, liquor, lightly vanilla, wood. Lovely lovely beer, oily texture, medium to full body and carbonation. Absolutely lovely.

Bottle at RBESG 2014 Grand Tasting. It pours near black with asmall, dense tan head. The nose is rich roast, earth, salted caramel, big dark chocolate, bourbon and vanilla. The taste is bitter, rich roast, earth, dark chocolate, mild acidity, dark fruits, some jam, light soy sauce and more chocolate with a smooth finish. Full body, fine carbonation and oily mouth-feel. Decadent.

Pitch black color. Very dark brown head that disappaites fairly quickly. The nose is huge with massive brownie and chocolate fudge notes jumping out. Charcoal hints with a touch of burning bourbon is behind it. A bit boozy in the nose. The mouth is heavenly. Thick, but not cloying, tons of dark chocolate dark fruit, with a touch of bourbon and vanilla. However the bourbon and vanilla really shine at the end, an almost reversal of the nose with chocolate playing a significant but not dominate part. It’s boozy pretty much from beginning to end, which is amazing given that I am drinking this in 2014 and one of the beers used, Mackmyra Jubileum is from 2009. Honestly the booziness is so pronounced it distracts a bit at the end. It’s hard to know when this beer would peak, but otherwise the flavors have melded pretty well together. Overall very enjoyable, but not a masterpiece.

180cl bottle thanks to _angst! Pours pitch black with a small brown head that dissipates fairly quickly to a ring leaving nice lacing. Aroma is rich, chocolate, roasted malts, vanilla, touch of coconut. Flavor is similar, rich and medium sweet with strong roasty notes, vanilla, anise, cocoa, oak. Light bitterness. Fairly hot, especially on the finish. Full body and silky good mouthfeel. Quite the interesting little sipper!
