Bottle 33 cl. Courtesy of bluebetty. Pours an almost pitch black with a vague reddish hue and a beige head. Roasty nose, some raisins and a vague woody note. Solid body, heavy roast, sweet raisins and a subtle if absolutely woody note. Warming alcohol finish. 140212

Pours black with a large, tan head.Nose shows roasted malt, soft booze, chocolate and soft vanilla oak characters.Lots of roasted malt as a flavours too, alongside soft booze, some sharp oak and belgian-like spicy notes. The oak and alcohol is a bit too strong for my liking.Body could be a bit thicker.

Bottle, 13C. Pours black with a tan head that fades to a nice coat but lasts and laces extravagantly. Aroma of chocolate, roasted malt, plums, grass, dark rum. Very luscious mouthfeel. Taste is very chocolatey with rum, dark fruits, pine, aniseed or licorice. Really quite boozy, but the flavours of the normal version have melded a bit and the wood at the end helps to downplay the sweetness too. The pine and alcohol are a bit much now, but perhaps they’ll settle down. Unlike the normal version, liked it better as it warmed.
